Who Are We

We United is a Southland and Chicago-based nonprofit helping youth and families access leadership programs, academic support, mentorship, violence-survivor support, and community resources. Through leadership development, youth workforce preparation, college preparation, community advocacy, family support services, violent-crime victim support, and our athletic and enrichment programs, We United empowers youth, strengthens families, and unites communities

Mission

To empower youth and families through education, mentorship, and community-based support, creating safe spaces where individuals can access resources, build confidence, and develop the skills needed to thrive.

Purpose

The purpose of We United is to provide a safe, supportive, and empowering foundation for youth and families across the Southland and Chicago. We exist to bridge gaps in education, wellness, spiritual growth, violence recovery, and community connection by offering programs that build confidence, stability, and leadership.

Youth & Family Programs & Services

Housing Resources & Referrals

Connections to housing resources, support with applications, and guidance navigating community agencies to promote family stability.

Tutoring & Academic Support

One-on-one and small group tutoring to help students build confidence in reading, math, homework completion, and study skills.

We Protect – Victims of Violent Crime Program

Provides compassionate support for survivors of domestic and community violence, including referrals for counseling and therapy, connections to court and legal advocacy, safety planning, crisis navigation, and support for children and families involved with DCFS.

We Sisters Network – Women & Girls Support Circle

A monthly sister support circle offering a safe, judgment-free space, along with resources for jobs, housing, mental health, parenting, and healing.

Youth on the Road – Driving Hours Completion

A driving-preparation program that helps high school students complete required driving hours safely and responsibly and get ready for their driver’s license.

Youth United – Mentoring & Life Transitions

A mentoring program that supports youth as they transition into adulthood, offering guidance on school, college, career planning, life skills, and healthy relationships.

Meet Our Executive Director

Andrea Jefferson is an experienced nonprofit professional with a Master of Public Administration and is currently pursuing her Doctorate in Education with a concentration in nonprofit leadership. She is certified in coaching( Coach Drea), managing conflict, and grant writing. As a devoted girl mom, her passion for cheer and majorette dance inspired the creation of the Southland Chicago Cheerettes. As a GovState student, mom, and youth mentor, Andrea’s goal is to unite youth and uplift families in crisis while offering a strong, supportive network.

Monthly Events

Braiding Clinics & Beauty Resources

Hands-on braiding clinics and hair-care education that empower youth with practical skills, creativity, and self-esteem. We also connect families to local stylists and beauty resources.

Digital and finical literacy Seminars

Available for youth, parents, and seniors, our Digital and Financial Literacy Seminars teach essential skills for navigating technology, budgeting, banking, online safety, and money management. These sessions provide practical, real-world guidance to help individuals build confidence, independence, and long-term financial stability.

Parenting Workshops & Webinars

Our Parenting Workshops & Webinars are designed to support, educate, and empower parents at every stage of their child’s development through interactive sessions that include counseling resources, role-playing activities, parental research, and real-life guidance.

We Sisters- Book Club

The We Sistas Book Club creates a safe, empowering space for women to explore stories of healing, growth, and sisterhood together. Through monthly readings and discussions, members build connection, deepen self-awareness, and strengthen their emotional and spiritual well-being.
